New online Master of Business Administration program to begin in fall semester

Tuesday, June 4, 2013

MANHATTAN – Working professionals are getting help advancing their careers with a new online Master of Business Administration program from Kansas State University.

The Kansas State University College of Business Administration has partnered with the Division of Continuing Education to offer an accredited online master's program for working professionals with at least three to five years of experience. The program will begin fall 2013, and interested professionals can apply now.

"Our new professional Master of Business Administration online will give professionals the added business skills, networking opportunities and personalized development plan to take their careers to the next level,” said Stacy Kovar, associate dean for academic programs in the College of Business Administration. Kovar also is professor of accounting and PricewaterhouseCoopers Faculty Fellow. "The program's flexible, interactive, online format will give professionals from anywhere the chance to complete their Master of Business Administration degree while still maintaining their active career and family life."

The online master's program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Courses are taught by the same professors who teach graduate courses at the Manhattan campus, but the online program offers the flexibility and independence of online learning and draws from the students’ professional experiences to enrich their courses. The program is designed to give working professionals a competitive edge to help them advance in their careers while providing a development plan personalized to their career needs.

The program requirements include:

* A two-day regional student orientation, including team building, networking and professional development components

* A total of 39 credits, or as few as 30 credits depending on the individual's previous undergraduate business course work. Curriculum includes courses in economics, accounting, management, finance and other related subject areas.

* Faculty-led international trip

* Professional development and learning seminars

The College of Business Administration is among an elite 10 percent of the approximately 1,680 business schools and colleges in the U.S. to hold accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business for all business and accounting programs.
