Kansas State University chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda inducts first members

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University has inducted 59 students into the university's first chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda.
The national honor society was founded in 1945 and recognizes adult students who achieve and maintain high scholastic standards. It is the oldest and largest chapter-based honor society for full- and part-time undergraduate adult students.
New members were inducted into the honorary at the K-State Global Campus Honors and Awards Reception April 30.
"K-State Global Campus and the Non-Traditional and Veteran Student Services office launched a new honor society, Alpha Sigma Lambda, this spring to recognize nontraditional students for their hard work and dedication for academic achievements," said Katie To, coordinator for Non-Traditional and Veteran Student Services.
To be eligible to join Omega Xi, Kansas State University's chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, nontraditional students must be currently enrolled with a minimum of 24 credit hours completed toward an undergraduate degree program at the university and have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
"These students had to balance school, careers and their families while sustaining and enhancing academic excellence. Thus, we must honor and celebrate their accomplishments," To said.
