K-STATE STUDENT FROM FORT SCOTT NAMED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR FOR THE MIDWEST REGION OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY FOOD SERVICES
MANHATTAN -- The Midwest Region of the National Association of College and University Food Services has named Kyle Stefka, a Kansas State University sophomore in mechanical engineering from Fort Scott, the 2009 Mary Molt Student Excellence Award winner.
Stefka receives a $1,000 scholarship, the opportunity to compete for the national Student Employee of the Year Award -- which includes a $3,000 scholarship -- and will make a trip to the national conference in July in Milwaukee, Wis. Stefka is a student production lead and has worked for K-State housing and dining services since 2006.
The Mary Molt Student Excellence Award recognizes the most outstanding student employees in college and university food-service operations in the region. Award nominees must exhibit outstanding reliability, quality of work, initiative, disposition and make a significant contribution to their employer.
The Midwest Region award, formerly the Student Employee of the Year Award, was renamed in 2008 to honor Mary Molt, assistant director of dining services at K-State, for her leadership in and dedication to National Association of College and University Food Services' student programs, scholarships and other initiatives.
