SUMMER OF DISCOVERY: WORKSHOPS LET GIRLS IN GRADES 7-10 EXPLORE SCIENCE, ENGINEERING
MANHATTAN -- Three days of engineering, math and science exploration is the agenda planned for seventh- and eighth-grade girls at Kansas State University, June 8-10; and for ninth- and 10th-grade girls, June 22-24.
The 12th annual GROW -- Girls Researching Our World -- Workshop will introduce girls going into the seventh and eighth grades to activities and topics in many different fields of science, engineering and math.
The ninth annual EXCITE! -- EXploring sCIence, Technology and Engineering -- Workshop for girls going into the ninth and 10th grades will feature hands-on activities led by K-State faculty in tracks of biofuels, computer animation and gaming design, robotics, wind energy, nano-engineering, solar cells and visualization of molecules. Girls will also participate in hands-on labs in physics, chemistry and shop.
The GROW and EXCITE! Programs are sponsored by the Women in Engineering and Science Program on the K-State campus. Registrations will be accepted until the workshops are full.
