Hit Broadway musical 'Memphis' comes to McCain Auditorium

MANHATTAN -- The hit Broadway musical "Memphis" will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium.
"Memphis," inspired by actual events, is set in the underground dance clubs of 1950s' Memphis. It features a radio announcer who wants to change the world and a club singer searching for her big break. A tale of fame and forbidden love unfolds on their journey full of laughter, emotion and rock 'n' roll.
"Memphis" contains adult themes and language.
"Memphis" has found fans with its dancing and songs. The show won four 2010 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It played pre-Broadway at the La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Street Theatre.
"Memphis" features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro and a Tony-winning original score by David Bryan, a founding member of Bon Jovi, and is directed by Tony-nominee Christopher Ashley.
The show will be preceded by a McCain Conversation hosted by Steven Maxwell, assistant professor of tuba and euphonium at Kansas State University's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at 6 p.m. in 204 McCain Auditorium. The McCain Conversation is free with a ticket to the "Memphis" performance. Coffee and light desserts will be provided.
