Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding appears with ACS at McCain Auditorium

MANHATTAN -- Contemporary jazz group ACS will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium as part of the McCain Performance Series.
ACS consists of pianist Geri Allen, drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and bassist/vocalist Esperanza Spalding. The trio's diverse talents create a bold, contemporary jazz style.
Allen is an internationally renowned composer and pianist. Since 1982, she has recorded, performed or collaborated with such well-known entertainers as Ravi Coltrane, Dianne Reeves, Bill Cosby, Ron Carter and Ornette Coleman, among others.
Carrington has been a major figure in the music industry for almost 25 years, collaborating with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Al Jarreau, Stan Getz, David Sanborn, Joe Sample, Cassandra Wilson, Clark Terry, Nancy Wilson, George Duke, Dianne Reeves and many more.
Spalding, the relative newcomer of the group, was named Best New Jazz Artist at the 2011 Grammy Awards.
