Workshops to boost sales performance, self-management offered at K-State Olathe

OLATHE -- Experts in sales performance and self-management will lead two seminars in the Kansas City area as part of the Kansas State University College of Business Administration's Professional Education Seminars at K-State Olathe, 22201 W. Innovation Drive.

Bob McHardy, author of "Managing Effort: Getting Results," and Cliff Sutton, performance manager at Self Management Group, will present both seminars.

"Sales Self-Management," a one-day workshop to help improve sales performance, will be 1-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12. "High Performance Sales Coaching Seminar: Managing Effort, Getting Results," a two-day seminar to teach managers how to develop self-motivated employees, will be 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Nov. 13-14. Both events will be at K-State Olathe.

Attendees will learn how a self-management high-performance culture can improve any company's sales by training employees who take responsibility and are committed to constant improvement in performance, productivity and mutual success.

"I have the coaching process in place where my sales staff is taking the initiative and setting its own expectations and taking responsibility for sales," said Joe Barker,outsource solutions sales manager at CH Robinson in Overland Park. He participated in the spring seminar with McHardy and Sutton."This takes the stress off so I can manage at a higher level."

Karl Kunz, State Farm agent in Manhattan, who also attended spring workshop, said, "I was able to have a connection with my team members, to develop them as self-managers. As a result, we had our best month ever in August."

Sutton, an accomplished sales executive and business developer, has created interactive sales and sales management programs for clients such as HSBC Bank, Edward Jones, A&P Foods and Baxter Corp. McHardy is a world leader in screening, selecting, training and retaining high performance self-managers. He has built the training division of the Self Management Group and PLUS Corp. into a major training organization.

The College of Business Administration's Professional Education Series at K-State Olathe will continue with a social entrepreneurship workshop on Dec. 6.

The college, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, offers six undergraduate majors; two minors; Master of Business Administration, Professional Master of Business Administration and Master of Accountancy programs; and three graduate certificate programs in leadership, business administration and animal health organization management. The college also offers the Kansas City area professional education opportunities in conjunction with Kansas State University's Division of Continuing Education and K-State Olathe.
