MANHATTAN -- The variety of music, theater, dance and art events on the Kansas State University campus during the month of November offer plenty to do for anyone looking to escape the chilly fall weather and be entertained at the same time.

The following events, all free unless otherwise indicated, are sponsored by the university's McCain Performance Series; the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance; and the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art. They include:

* The K-State Tap Dance Ensemble will host an interactive dance session and a performance from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Riley County Family and Child Resource Center, 2101 Claflin Road. The event is in partnership with the Parents as Teachers of Riley County.

* The Purple Masque Theatre will present Kate Fodor's quirky comedy "Rx" at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1-2, in Nichols Theatre. Tickets are $4-$7, plus applicable taxes and fees, and may be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office or by calling 785-532-6428.

* "The Wonder Bread Years with Pat Hazell" will be performed at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union. The McCain Performance Series show is a humorous salute to the baby boomer generation. * The music program will host a guest performance by pianist Dan Masterson at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, in All Faiths Chapel.

* The lower-division percussion studio of Kurt Gartner, professor of music, will perform a recital at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in All Faiths Chapel. This performance will be followed by a recital by Gartner's upper-division percussion studio at 7:30 p.m.

* The music program will present "Sticks and Strings," the annual shared recital by the percussion and string studios, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, in All Faiths Chapel.

* The Boys Choir of Leipzig, along with the Leipzig Baroque Orchestra, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan. * The music program will partner with the Beach Museum for a Meet the Music event featuring a performance by string students of Cora Cooper, professor of music, from 5:30-6:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the museum.

* "The Wedding Singer," the university's annual musical, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7-9 and at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in McCain Auditorium. The show combines the talents of university music, theater and dance students. Tickets are $10-$16 and are available through the McCain Auditorium box office or by calling 785-532-6428.

* The music program will host a guest recital by pianist Emil Ribarski at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in All Faiths Chapel.

* Stand-up comic Brian Regan will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in McCain Auditorium. Tickets for this McCain Performance Series show are $34-$50, plus applicable taxes and fees, and can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office, by phone at 785-532-6428 or online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain. * The Beach Museum will host an Early Release Digital Photography workshop with photography student Chelcie Sutherland for school-age children from 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the museum. Participants should bring a digital camera. They will visit the "Pure Photography" exhibit at the museum and learn more about framing photos. Preregistration is required by calling 785-532-7718. The cost of the workshop is $5 for the general public and $3 for Friends of the Beach Museum members.

* The bassoon studio of Susan Maxwell, instructor of music, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in All Faiths Chapel.

*Award-winning playwright Stephen Lang will star in "Beyond Glory" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in McCain Auditorium. Lang portrays eight American veterans who won the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military accolade, in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. * The Beach Museum's reception for the opening of "Visual Inquiry: 2013 Kansas State University Art Faculty Exhibition" will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. The exhibition will feature new work selected by the exhibiting artists and runs through Feb. 2, 2014.

* Guest percussionist Joby Burgess will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in All Faiths Chapel. Burgess is one of Britain's most diverse percussionists. He is best known for his virtuosic performances, daring collaborations and extensive education work. He regularly appears throughout Europe, the United States and beyond.

* The hit Broadway musical "Memphis" will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in McCain Auditorium. * The Kansas State University Concert Choir, directed by Joshua Oppenheim, assistant professor of music, and Julie Yu, associate professor of music, will be in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, in All Faiths Chapel.

* The Kansas State University's Women's Choir and the Collegiate Chorale will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in All Faiths Chapel.

* The university dance program will host "Ready Player One Interactive" with student dancers and Laura Donnelly, assistant professor of dance, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union.

*In-A-Chord, K-State's a cappella vocal ensemble, will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in McCain Auditorium. Tickets are available through the university choral office or from In-A-Chord members.

* The K-State Faculty Brass Quintet will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in All Faiths Chapel. Quintet members include Craig Parker, associate professor of music, and Becki Ronen Walenz, instructor of music, both on trumpet; Jacqueline Fassler-Kerstetter, associate professor of music, on French horn; Paul Hunt, professor of music on trombone; and Steve Maxwell, assistant professor of music, on tuba.

* The music program's general student recital will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in All Faiths Chapel. This one-hour recital features students from the voice, wind, brass, string, keyboard and percussion divisions.

* Clarinetist Tod Kerstetter, professor of music at Kansas State University, will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in All Faiths Chapel.

* The Beach Museum's ArtSmart classes for November will be watercolor and acrylic paints. Home school Tuesday will be 1-2:30 p.m. and a class for all ages will be 4-5 p.m., both Tuesday, Nov. 19. Toddlers and Twos will be 10:30-11 a.m. and a class for all ages will be 4-5 p.m., both Wednesday, Nov. 20. A class for ages 2-3 will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. and a class for kindergarteners and up will be 4-5 p.m., both Thursday, Nov. 21. A class for ages 4-5 will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22. The cost is $3 per child and $1.50 for Friends of the Beach Museum of Art members. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

* The Kansas State University Marching Band, directed by Frank Tracz, professor of music and director of bands, and Don Linn, instructor of music, will be in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in Ahearn Field House. A small admission fee will be charged.
