K-STATE ARTISTS TO DISCUSS THEIR WORK AS PART OF REVIVED BIENNIAL SHOW AT THE MARIANNA KISTLER BEACH MUSEUM OF ART

MANHATTAN -- Faculty members from Kansas State University's department of art will discuss the process and passion behind their works in several lectures at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art beginning in October.

The lectures are in conjunction with the exhibition "Renewal: K-State Art Department Faculty Biennial," now on display through Dec. 24.

K-State's art faculty chose their best work created within the past two years for the exhibition, which has been revived after an absence of several years.

Art faculty members presenting lectures include:

* Nancy Morrow, associate professor, and Jason Scuilla, assistant professor, "Research and the Creative Process: Cultivating Vision and Studio Art Practice," 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. The lecture will give insight into the everyday practices of the studio artist through their own work. Scuilla will offer tours of K-State's print shop after the lecture.

* Douglas Dow, K-State assistant professor of art history, "From the Archbishop to the Bookseller: Patrons of Confraternal Art in Renaissance Florence," 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. Dow will discuss the influence of two men occupying distinct positions within Renaissance Florence.

* New faculty members Dylan J. Beck, Mike McMann, Armon Means and Kevin Bernstein, all assistant professors of art, "Emerging Technologies and Tools in Art" 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. The lecturers will discuss current trends in the intersection of art, technology and science, and how their own work contributes to this new conversation.

For more information, contact the museum at 785-532-7718 or drop by the museum on the southeast corner of the K-State campus at 14th Street and Anderson Avenue. Free visitor parking is available next to the building. Normal museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays.
