K-State Celebrates coming to Wichita Sept. 23
Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013
MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University is offering a look at campus life for high school students from the Wichita area.
K-State Celebrates showcases opportunities at the university for future students and will be 7:15-8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview, 400 W. Douglas Ave., Wichita. Registration for the free event starts at 6:45 p.m. Parents and friends are welcome.
"K-State Celebrates is a wonderful chance for prospective students and family members to hear firsthand from current K-Staters," said Pat Bosco, vice president for student life and dean of students. "We'll answer two questions: 'What's all the excitement about?' and 'Is our school the right fit?'"
Bosco will share opportunities available at the university, and representatives from all of K-State's nine academic colleges will be available to talk about academic programs and options. Parents and students can learn about student service organizations, such as housing and dining services, Greek affairs, student financial assistance and multicultural organizations.
"This event is an outstanding opportunity for Wichita-area students who haven't yet made the trip to visit campus," said Adam Miller, a K-State admissions representative. "At K-State Celebrates, we bring the purple to you so that students and parents can learn about choosing a college and about K-State."
Students can sign up for a campus visit, and admissions representatives and student ambassadors can answer questions. Drawings will be conducted for prizes, and at least one senior will receive a $250 scholarship to be used toward textbooks for his or her first semester at K-State.
