At approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, emergency personnel from the Manhattan Fire Department, Riley County EMS, Kansas State University Police and K-State Environmental Health and Safety responded to a report of a possible gas leak at Cardwell Hall. Officials determined there was no gas leak and odors were a result of construction projects in the building.
No injuries were reported, though three people were checked at the scene by emergency personnel for inhalation symptoms. No one was transported for medical attention.
Cardwell Hall was locked overnight to circulate air and eliminate the fumes. The building reopened this morning.
