Wefald Hall fire, March 2
Update 9:50 a.m. Professional cleaning crews are cleaning the affected areas. Thirty-one students were affected but only a few needed to be temporarily relocated to other rooms in Wefald Hall.
Update 9:25 a.m.: Manhattan Fire Department releases cause and damage estimate.
Update: 7:46 a.m.: Denison Ave. is back open. Affected students have relocated because of water damage to their rooms. Division of Student Life staff are onsite and available to students. A university employee inspecting conditions after the fire slipped on some standing water and was injured.
Update 7:21 a.m.: Students are being allowed back to their rooms.
Update 6:26 a.m.: A fire occurred on the fourth floor of Wefald Hall the morning of March 2, 2018. The Manhattan Fire Department responded. According to the K-State Police, the fire was extinguished by the suppression system. There are no reported injuries. Evacuated students are currently at Kramer Food Center. Denison is closed between Claflin and Platt for emergency vehicles.

8:04 a.m. Students return to Wefald Hall (updated 10:10 a.m.)
MANHATTAN — Students have been allowed back into their rooms at Kansas State University's Wefald Hall following an early morning fire Friday. Thirty-one students were affected by water damage to their rooms but only a few will need to be temporarily relocated.
A university employee inspecting conditions after the fire slipped on some standing water and was injured.
Staff with the university's Division of Student Life are onsite and available for students.
The fire, reported to the K-State Police Department around 4:43 a.m., was extinguished by the hall's suppression system. Students were evacuated to the nearby Kramer Dining Center. The K-State Police Department, Manhattan Fire Department and Riley County EMS responded.
Denison Avenue between Claflin Avenue and Platt Street is now reopened.
7 a.m. No injuries in fire at Wefald Hall
MANHATTAN — No injuries were reported in a Friday morning fire at Wefald Hall on Kansas State University's Manhattan campus. The fire was extinguished by the hall's suppression system, according to the K-State Police Department.
Students were evacuated from the hall and relocated to Kramer Dining Center.
Denison Avenue between Claflin Avenue and Platt Street is closed for emergency vehicles.
