HOW TO: Create an unscheduled recording in a Mediasite-ready room
Several spaces on the K-State campus are equipped with Mediasite recorder appliances to enable automated, schedule-based recording. But what if you want to record outside of a scheduled time? Mediasite Record Now allows you to start recording a Mediasite presentation in an ad-hoc, unscheduled fashion.
Start a recording
-
On the installed PC in the room, double-click the icon on the icon on the desktop for Mediasite Record Now. A web browser will open and prompt you to authenticate using your K-State eID.
Note: If you do not see a Mediasite Record Now icon, the room may not be Mediasite-ready or configured to use Record Now.
-
Sign in using your K-State eID and password.
-
Provide a Presentation Title.
-
Choose a maximum Duration for your recording in minutes. You can manually stop recording at any time during capture. The maximum allowed duration for a Record Now recording is 240 minutes (4 hours). Record Now recordings will not preempt existing, scheduled recordings.
-
Choose a recording option by selecting the corresponding Begin Recording button.
The available recording options will vary depending on the capabilities of the room. You are encouraged to perform one or more test recordings to determine which recording option will work best for your purposes. Some of the common recording options are explained below.
Camera and Content 1: Records the in-room camera (selected from the room controls) as well as the content displayed on the screen/projector (left screen/projector if there are multiple). All content is recorded as full-motion video. Audio is captured from the in-room sound system.
Camera and Content 1,2: Records the in-room camera (selected from the room controls) as well as the left and right screens/projectors in rooms equipped with multiple screens/projectors. All content is recorded as full motion video. Audio is captured from the in-room sound system.
Camera Only: Records the in-room camera (selected from the room controls). No other visual content is captured. Audio is captured from the in-room sound system.
Content 1 Only: Records the content displayed on the screen/projector (left screen/projector if there are multiple) as full-motion video. The in-room camera is not recorded. Audio is captured from the in-room sound system.
The recording will start automatically on the Mediasite recorder appliance installed in the room. Remember to close the browser window after you are finished to safely terminate your authenticated browser session.
Finish a recording
Select Stop Recording from the Record Now browser window. You may also use the room controls to stop recording.
Record Now recordings are automatically uploaded to your My Drafts folder in your My Mediasite portal. If necessary, move the presentation to the desired channel or shared folder.
