What Dr. Humber said:

"Salmonellosis, clinical manifestations. Most common: a self limited, uncomplicated gastroenteritis. But can escalate to an enteric fever which is a, uh, life-threatening febrile systemic illness requiring prompt antibiotic therapy. Asymptomatic carriers? Yes. Definitely."

Dr. Jessie's translation:

"A salmonella infection causes salmonellosis. Most of the time it’s an upset tummy and diarrhea and you get over it all on your own. But in some cases it spreads into your system, causing a fever and potentially deadly illness. If that happens, we need to give you antibiotic drugs right away. People can have no symptoms, yet be carriers of salmonella."
