Biography

The recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Teacher Award from Kansas Music Teachers Association, Dr. Sławomir Dobrzański teaches applied piano, piano pedagogy, and piano literature.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Dr. Dobrzański performed in over twenty countries around the world, often in renowned concert halls, such as the Beijing Performing Arts Center in Beijing, China, the Steinway Hall in New York City, and the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, Poland. Every year, his artistic and scholarly activities take him to Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Under the London (United Kingdom) based Acte Prealable label, Dr. Dobrzanski has released several critically acclaimed CD albums of previously unknown piano repertoire by Maria Szymanowska, Anton de Kontski, Wiktor Labunski, Felis Labunski, and Károly Aggházy. He has also recorded solo and chamber music for Polish Radio and Television in Warsaw, Poland.

A graduate of the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland, and the University of Connecticut, Dr. Dobrzański was the winner of the Naftzger Young Artist Award and the Naftzger Piano Division Prize in 1993.

Dr. Dobrzański 's former piano students are currently pursuing artistic and academic careers all over the world, across North and South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Many have become highly successful soloists and chamber musicians, often while serving simultaneously on the music faculties of colleges, music conservatories, and community music schools.

Prior to his appointment at K-State, Dr. Dobrzański was a member of music faculties at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI.

Dr. Dobrzański also serves as the Chair of Keyboard Division.
