As a Registered Drama Therapist, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, Melissa Briggs has worked with a variety of populations including youth and families in residential treatment facilities, schools, community mental health, foster care and private practice.

Professor Briggs' areas of research and clinical focus include Trauma Informed practices, relationship based clinical services, creative arts techniques, best practices in supervision and leadership. Professor Briggs has taught a variety of courses including Counseling and Psychotherapy theories and practices, Creative arts therapy, Ethics, Research Methods, Internship and Supervision, and Group Theories.
