String Leadership Institute - June 23-27, 2024

The String Leadership Institute at K-State is a unique music camp experience for high school orchestra students.

Rooted in the belief that leadership begins with connection to others, students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of community building activities aimed at providing musical and leadership experiences that are meaningful and inspiring.

Registration, Tuition & More

Tuition for SLI includes all expenses related to instruction, activities, housing, and meals. Students who would like to attend as a non-resident may also do so—the registration fee for non-resident students will include all expenses above, excluding housing.

Registration

Online registration extensions. The deadline for registration has passed. If you missed the deadline, but would still like to participate, please reach out to camp coordinator Russell Clark (reclark@ksu.edu) no later than Monday, May 27 to request a registration extension.

Registration requirements for the camp will include the following:

Step 1: Complete the SLI Registration Form.

Step 2: Submit a short (2-3 minutes) performance video demonstrating your playing abilities. Your video can include a performance of your most recent solo repertoire, or orchestral repertoire if you don't have a solo prepared at this time. This performance will be used to assess which chamber ensemble you will work with, so make sure to submit a performance that best exemplifies your musical skills and abilities.

All videos should be submitted using either an unlisted YouTube video link or a Google video link with Viewer or Editor Mode enabled. Please submit your video using the SLI Performance Video Form.

Step 3: Complete the following tasks below—all requested forms and tuition fees must be received no later than June 1, 2024.

1. Complete the online SLI Student Contract Form .

2. Download the SLI Parent/Guardian Permission Forms Packet , complete the forms and then return the completed forms via email, fax, or U.S. post—this contact information is available within the packet.

3. Send a personal or cashier's check for the total tuition fee—this check should be received no later than Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Step 4: Get ready to have fun! Once you are registered and all items submitted, we will send music for you to prepare for the week as well as detailed information about the camp.
