K-State Theatre Shakespeare Camp welcomes current high school freshmen through seniors, to learn, play and perform Shakespeare.
We introduce young actors to Shakespeare's language, stories, characters, and ideas in imaginative and playful ways. Students can explore Shakespeare's text emotionally, physically, and intellectually through classes that incorporate voice, movement, and acting.
Facilitated by a professional Teaching Artist, the ensemble will present scenes from Macbeth (June 17-21) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (June 24-28). There will be an emphasis on expressing creativity via play and collaboration, constructing ensemble, and exploring various overall performance methods that the Teaching Artists integrate into their own professional practice.
On the final day of the session, students will create a performance piece based on their experience with Shakespeare, which they will share with family and friends.
