K-State music faculty featured in Hale Library Concert Series

The Hale Library Concert Series will host a special recital featuring three of Kansas State University's own School of Music, Theatre, and Dance faculty members at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25. Steven Maxwell, professor of tuba and euphonium, Susan Maxwell, teaching associate professor, and Amanda Arrington, senior professor of practice, will perform a dynamic program of solos, duets and trios ranging from the Baroque period to contemporary works.

Steven Maxwell brings extensive musical expertise and a commanding stage presence. As the tubist for the K-State Faculty Brass Quintet and director of the K-State Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, he has dedicated his career to both performance and education, shaping the next generation of K-State musicians.

Susan Maxwell is a versatile musician, educator and innovator in the world of bassoon performance and reed making. She is an active performer who plays in numerous orchestras and ensembles, captivating audiences with her prolific artistry. As a studio bassoon educator and coordinator for music business at K-State, she blends her passion for teaching with real-world industry expertise.

Amanda Arrington is a regular performer in the Hale Library Concert Series and a dedicated advocate for new music. She frequently collaborates with faculty artists, guest artists and students, bringing works to life on stage. As the faculty collaborative pianist at K-State, she plays a vital role in supporting and inspiring student musicians.

The concert series is a cultural outreach program of the Friends of the K-State Libraries and is open to the public.

"The Hale Library Concert Series has a long history of providing a variety of wonderful performances by K-State faculty along with distinguished guest artists, including alumni and artistic collaborators," said Laurel Littrell, interim dean of K-State Libraries. "Our April 25 program gives our listeners an opportunity to hear chamber music presented in a new, fresh combination of instruments and musical styles."

This recital offers a unique opportunity to experience the talents of these exceptional musicians, showcasing a wide range of musical styles and genres in a unique setting.
