K-State honors Brianne Porter as Professional Staff of the Week
Kansas State University recognized Brianne Porter as the Professional Staff of the Week at the Jan. 21 home basketball game. Porter is the business manager for the College of Business Administration.
Porter's collaborative spirit, adaptable nature and unwavering commitment to excellence have strengthened the college in countless ways. Her work supports the college's mission and strategic goals while consistently going above and beyond to serve faculty, staff and students.
Over her time at K-State, Porter's contributions have been extraordinary. During a period of significant staffing transitions in 2024, she stepped up by taking on critical responsibilities beyond her regular role — supporting budget operations, managing hiring processes, serving as the college's timekeeper and supervising the college's student assistant. Her efforts filled gaps left by two key positions and were later divided between two newly created full-time roles, underscoring the magnitude of her impact.
Porter also played a pivotal role in the university-wide implementation of the Concur travel system. She quickly became the college’s go-to expert, providing training and support to faculty and staff, and ensuring compliance and efficiency. Her expertise has been especially valuable in coordinating travel logistics for the college's study abroad programs, directly enhancing the student experience.
The Faculty and Professional Staff of the Week recognitions are coordinated by Faculty Senate, the Office of the President and K-State Athletics. Recipients are selected by Faculty Senate caucuses, provided tickets to a home basketball game of their choice and honored during halftime as a small token of appreciation for their service to K-State.
