Civil Rights and Title IX Office seeks equal access for students
Kansas State University's land-grant mission promotes opportunity and belonging, valuing each student's unique experiences. The Civil Rights and Title IX office, or CRIX, reviews complaints of discrimination, harassment and retaliation and educates university employees and students to prevent future issues. CRIX’s goal is to provide equal access to K-State’s programs and activities and to promote respectful and fair treatment to all participants across K-State’s campuses.
CRIX is an independent, fact-finding office within Human Resources. It oversees the university’s policy prohibiting discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment in full compliance with federal law.
Resources and services
Students can file formal complaints about harassment or discrimination using the Civil Rights and Title IX Online Reporting Form. CRIX reviews complaints and guides students on next steps, which may include a formal investigation or the documentation of incidents. When needed, reports are shared with appropriate university and federal administrators while maintaining student privacy.
Students may contact the CRIX team at any time with questions or concerns by phone at 785-532-6220 or by email. Walk-in hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, in Kedzie Hall, Room 203. A formal report is not required to receive assistance.
Non-discrimination training is available to students and university organizations upon request.
Collaborative support
The CRIX office collaborates with university departments to best support student needs. Academic support is coordinated through Student Support and Accountability, or SSA.
Students can also get referrals to the Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, or CARE; K-State Police Department; Lafene Counseling and Psychological Services, or CAPS; K-State Family Center; medical care; local community resources and more.
CRIX offers supportive services and measures in all academic, housing and work spaces connected to the university. Support is available for students on any campus, including those studying online. Even if a complaint is not filed or does not result in a formal investigation or disciplinary outcome, CRIX remains available to provide resources and supportive measures to students.
