Earth Day Lectures

KWI welcomes Dawn Buehler, chair of the Kansas Water Authority and Kansas Riverkeeper with Friends of the Kaw as our featured speaker for the Earth Day Lectures. Buehler will present “A Bridge Over Troubled Waters: How Scientific Data and Shareholder Cooperation Can Impact Kansas Water Resource Challenges and Water Policy” at two different lectures. The first will take place on Earth Day, April 22, at 1:30 p.m. in the McVay Family Town Hall, Leadership Studies Building. Buehler’s second lecture will be held at 5:30 p.m. on April 23 in the Engineering Hall Auditorium.
Both lectures are free and open to the public. KWI will offer a pre-lecture reception on April 23, with light refreshments.
About Dawn Buhler
Buehler holds two appointments from Governor Laura Kelly. She serves as Chair of the Kansas Water Authority, a board that provides leadership to ensure that water policies and programs address the needs of all Kansans. The Kansas Water Authority is responsible for advising the Governor, Legislature and Director of the Kansas Water Office on water policy issues and for approving the Kansas Water Plan, budget, federal contracts, administration regulations and legislation proposed by the Kansas Water Office. Buehler is also Governor Kelly’s appointee for the Oil and Gas Advisory Committee.
She is also the Kansas Riverkeeper and Executive Director with Friends of the Kaw, a non-profit conservation organization that works for the Kansas River.
