Designated Access
The Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) states that a student’s educational and financial records are private and confidential and may only be released by consent of the student. Designated Access allows students to grant permission to a parent, spouse, guardian or others to access their student records to:
- Pay bills
- View tax information
- View financial aid
Designees cannot see your grades or classes.
Do not share your eID and password with your designee. Designees must use their own eID and password to access your records.
How it works
Students and designees should review these steps from the IT Help Desk and discuss each other’s expectations for access. Both the student and the designee must actively read and follow the instructions in the emails sent from the IT Help Desk (helpdesk@k-state.edu) to complete the process of giving and receiving designated access.
Students can add, change or remove designees and their access at any time.
