ALICE Training

The Kansas State University Police Department (KSUPD) is committed to making every effort to keep our students, faculty, staff, and visitors as safe and informed as possible. As part of that commitment, we recognize the need to provide our community with information and training which references the appropriate response to violent intruder situations. While there is no fail-safe approach to violent intruder response, KSUPD believes the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) Training model presents the most options and serves as the best approach in a violent intruder situation.

ALICE represents an options-based response to violent intruder events. It allows bystanders who may find themselves in crisis situations to use available information to decide how they will respond to the situation with an understanding that information is fluid and responses may change throughout the duration of the event.

The training video posted below represents a condensed version of the ALICE training program, highlighting the key elements and concepts. KSUPD does provide ALICE trainings to groups upon request. The training sessions are not hands-on but do offer further insight into each of the response elements.
