Brianne Heidbreder

Brianne Heidbreder is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Kansas State University. She earned her B.A. from Minnesota State University Moorhead (2001), M.A. from Kansas State University (2004), and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2008).
Her research interests fall at the intersection of state and local politics and public administration exploring topics such as gender and representation. Her work has appeared in State Politics and Policy Quarterly, Legislative Studies Quarterly, State and Local Government Review, and Politics and Policy.
Heidbreder teaches courses on U.S. politics, gender and politics, urban politics, and public administration. She has been recognized for her teaching at K-State, receiving the William L. Stamey Teaching Award (2013), Presidential Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (2015), and Commerce Bank and W.T. Kemper Foundation Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award (2022).
She also currently serves as the Faculty Director of K-State First, which is dedicated to assisting new students with the transition to university-level learning and college life.
