Academics
The Department of Political Science currently has eight degree options between undergraduate, graduate and accelerated education. Along with the minors, secondary majors and certificates that are complimentary with our programs, students have many options to make their academic journey personalized to their interests.
Undergraduate
Our department offers Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in Political Science which requires 120 credit hours, with a minimum 36 credit hours of major coursework. An undergraduate degree in political science prepares students for careers in both the public and private sector, as well as a number of advanced graduate degrees including in law, foreign service/security, public administration, and doctoral studies, among others.
Accelerated
Accelerated degree programs allow students to earn an undergraduate and graduate degree in five years, reducing the amount of time and money required normally from someone earning their degrees independently of each other by one year.
Our department offers two accelerated degree programs: a B.A./B.S. in Political Science & MPA in Public Administration and a B.A./B.S. in Political Science & M.A. in Security Studies.
Graduate
Our department offers graduate degree programs in both Public Administration (MPA and Graduate Certificate) and Security Studies (M.A. and Ph.D.). These programs are designed to support pre-career and mid-career students in reaching their professional goals.
