Total 150 credit hours

Undergraduate Curriculum (120 credit hours)

Whether from the Bachelor of Art (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.), students must complete 120 credit hours, with 30 hours coming from political science courses.

Program of Study

Upon completing nine hours of coursework students should fill out a Program of Study. This document performs two functions:

  1. Indicates faculty members who will serve on a student's graduate supervisory committee. The committee should be composed of at least two members, and their major professor/advisor.

For most students their major professor/advisor will be the current Director of Security Studies and the remaining two members will be the professors of HIST/POLSC 815. Before starting the process of filling out the Program of Study, students should consult with the Director of Security Studies, as well as with faculty they wish to include on their committee to determine their willingness to serve.

  2. Plans out the courses students have completed and will be completing in order to obtain their degree. This requires students to think a couple of semesters into the future.
PROGRAM AND COMMITTEE CHANGES

For any changes a student makes, either to their committee or the courses they plan to take, they must fill out a Program/Committee Changes form. This form should be submitted as soon as changes are made and approved by the student's graduate supervisory committee.

Approval to Schedule Final Exam

The program does not have a final examination, only a research project that is written during your enrollment in HIST/POLSC 815. However, the Approval to Schedule Final Exam form still must be submitted to the Graduate School. This form, and the ballot that is produced upon submission of this form, are the documents that alert the Graduate School to the fact that you plan to graduate in a specified semester. You must be enrolled in at least one credit hour the semester you graduate.

In the space where it asks for the exam date and time, indicate “N/A.”
