Apply what you are learning in your courses to real world problems by participating in Model United Nations!

Model United Nations is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. In Model UN, students represent UN member states and debate current issues on the organization's agenda. While playing their roles as ambassadors, student "delegates" make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the Model UN conference rules of procedure - all in the interest of mobilizing international cooperation to resolve problems that affect countries all over the world.

How to Participate

For those interested, students can enroll in POLSC 401 - Topics in Politics: Model United Nations during Fall semesters. It is not required that students enroll in order to participate in Model UN, but it is highly recommended.

In this one (1) credit hour course students will learn about the United Nations, research our countries, write position papers on policy issues, and review parliamentary procedures. Those with previous Model UN experience may inquire about auditing the course by e-mailing Dr. John Fliter (jfliter@ksu.edu). All majors and class years are welcome.

Model UN Events

Each year, our Model UN team takes part in the annual American Model United Nations (AMUN) conference in Chicago, IL, along with other conferences in the Midwest/Eastern area.
