What Happens after Legislative Break
The Kansas Legislature is taking its annual spring break and will be in recess until April 29. A lot of work remains on budget issues, but lawmakers are waiting for revenue estimates that are due out on April 20. Senate and House budget negotiators did reach before leaving on a measure that would save Kansas State University and the University of Kansas from earlier proposed cuts. But the two schools would face a tuition cap for two years. The president of Kansas State says this legislative session has been a challenging one for Higher Education. The K-State Radio Network’s Richard Baker has this report.
