Biographical Sketch

As a visionary leader in education, dedicated to fostering a new generation of ethical and innovative leaders in Africa, Patrick will share his insights on the transformative power of education and its role in shaping a better future.

After graduating with degrees in engineering and economics from Swarthmore College and an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, Patrick fulfilled a successful career as a program manager at Microsoft before returning to Ghana in 2001. There, he established Ashesi University, a nonprofit institution that emphasizes critical thinking, ethics and entrepreneurship. Under his leadership, the university has become a model for higher education in Africa, empowering students to effect meaningful change in their communities.

Patrick’s contributions to education and leadership have been recognized globally. He has received numerous accolades, including the Order of the Volta from the President of Ghana and the prestigious WISE Prize for Education from the Qatar Foundation. He has been named one of the 50 greatest leaders in the world by Fortune Magazine and is a Fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative.
