Young Cognitive Laboratory

Dr. Michael Young and his students are studying judgment and decision making. Historically, the laboratory has examined the factors affecting impulsive versus self-controlled choice, judgments of causality, and estimations of variety. Dr. Young has a strong preference for studying experience-based decision making in which people make a series of choices or judgments involving more realistic stimuli and receive feedback in real time. Recently, this approach has involved the study of decisions made during video game play, judgments of moving stimuli, and behavior motivated by efficient and timely outcomes.
