Request To Add A Room For Course Scheduling
The process described involves restrictions on the use of university rooms for academic instruction, with specific limitations enforced. Only certain rooms, such as a Centrally Scheduled Classroom {100.10}, Department Controlled Classroom {100.10}, and designated lab spaces {200.10/200.20/200.50}, are currently cleared for academic use.
Rooms used for academic instruction outside of approved designations impact overall reporting to KBOR (Kansas Board of Regents) on classroom use and funding allocations. Therefore, additional information is required for any non-designated room used for academic purposes.
For instance, Anderson 118B (designated as a conference room) is being questioned regarding its use for course instruction instead of utilizing existing departmental or CSC spaces. In order to consider the use of a non-academic space for teaching the following information is needed.
- Term request/usage needs to start
- Building and Room Number
- Detailed information on the type of instruction conducted in this space,
- The number of sections taught per semester,
- The student capacity, and
- Any other relevant details that will support this request.
Requests are required in a memo-based format, and can only come from the Department Head and the Associate/Assistant Dean in charge of classroom/academic scheduling. The e-mail should be sent to the University Registrar directly.
This information will be reviewed and considered by the administration, influencing decisions on room allocations and academic resource management. Decisions are sent back via the University Registrar.
