Facility Security Office
The Facility Security Office, or FSO, provides assistance in meeting security requirements associated with contracts, projects, or programs supported by K-State.
As a cleared defense contractor, K-State participates in the security program administered in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), DoD 5220.22-M, and the Defense Security Service (DSS).
The FSO performs the following primary functions:
- Protects national security, maintains United States economic and military advantage, and protects K-State research efforts;
- Performs industrial security functions outlined in the NISPOM and required by DSS; and
- Obtains, maintains, and terminates personnel security clearances issued to K-State employees working on contracts for the United States Government.
Another function of FSO is to communicate information that is valuable to the larger K-State research enterprise. Some information on FSO pages is accessible to all researchers and relevant staff members, but other information is for cleared personnel only.
