USDA Data Management Plans

USDA limits its Data Management Plans, or DMPs, to two pages and requires the following components:

• Expected data type
• Data format
• Storage and preservation
• Data Sharing, protection and public access
• Roles and responsibilities

The Data Management Plan for NIFA Funded Research, Education and Extension Projects website provides detailed guidance on putting this plan together. Examples of a USDA DMP can be found via the DMPTool under the “Public DMPs” tab. To access the DMPTool, type in your @k-state.edu email address and log in using your EID and password. Note: Kansas State University is not one of the listed entities, but we are a DMPTool partner.
