Cheryl joined the K-State faculty as an instructor in 2016. Prior to K-State, she provided direct practice to a number of at-risk populations both in the United States and abroad, in addition to work in grant writing/fundraising, program development, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, community organizing, and internal auditing. Cheryl also served in the Peace Corps from 2005-2007 and can assist any social work student interested in this opportunity.

Cheryl has taught Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Macro Practice and Theory, Practice 1, Practice 2, Groups, and Social Policy. Cheryl also offers courses related to substance use disorders and treatment for social work students interested in becoming dual licensed in social work and addiction counseling.

Current Direct Practice Involvement

In addition to teaching, Cheryl provides counseling and drug testing services to individuals awaiting federal sentencing and individuals who have been released from federal institutions as part of a contract with the United States Parole and Probation Office. She partners with a local agency in offering financial literacy trainings to women who are precariously housed. Cheryl also provides grant writing and program monitoring and evaluation assistance to local nonprofits.
