Elaine Edelman, PhD, LCSW, CASAC-Advanced (NYS), has been a clinical social worker for over thirty years. She began her career working with children and families at risk due to mental illness, abuse and neglect. She has worked at every level of mental health care, as well as management, including psychiatric inpatient and outpatient, partial hospitalization, and mental health residential services. She has extensive experience working with trauma survivors, borderline pathology, psychiatric illness, and substance use disorder. Interests include advances in mental health treatment, the recovery movement for both those dealing with psychiatric illness as well as substance use disorder, supporting trained and community outreach peers, and addressing health care disparities. Dr. Edelman has taught at Rutgers University School of Social Work and the Utica University School of Social Work.

At Kansas State University, Dr. Edelman teaches online courses in social work and addiction counseling.
