Social Impact Lab
We are excited to host our annual Social Impact Lab on Wednesday, April 2 for Kansas students in grades 7-10. This one-day camp will include hands-on activities for participants to learn about careers in the helping professions, meet with K-State faculty and students, and experience a day on campus. The event can accommodate student groups or individual student registrants.

Breakout session options:
- Befriending and Embracing Conflict: Participants will have an opportunity to understand how conflicts develop and strategies to effectively manage and resolve the conflicts in their lives. With conflict being an inevitable reality of life, participants will discover how to embrace and befriend conflict in order to better navigate these life-long occurrences.
- Build a Brain: This hands-on, tabletop game shows how experiences in early childhood impact brain development. Can you build the tallest, strongest brain?
- Building Healthy Relationships: Are you ready to level up your relationships? Join us to discover what makes a relationship truly healthy and learn how to create connections that stand strong against everyday challenges. Whether you’re looking to strengthen existing relationships or build new ones, this workshop will equip you with the tools you need to succeed! Plus, you'll connect with peers who are on the same journey. Don’t miss out – your best relationships await!
- Disability Access Scavenger Hunt: Participants will experience campus from the perspective of someone with a disability. Participants will explore accessibility issues inside the K-State Student Union and see whether individuals with different disabilities would be able to access its different areas.
- Helping Professionals BINGO: Learn about college majors and careers within the helping profession through a fun game of BINGO.
- Intro to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI): An FBI staff member will discuss what it’s like to work for the FBI, including outlining a day in the life of an FBI employee and from an agent’s perspective to a professional staff employee. The presentation will also include descriptions of some of the FBI’s various teams such as crisis negotiators, SWAT team, Evidence Response Team, and others.
- Let's Play! Interested in learning more about a professional career in early childhood education? Come with your mobile device/phone to use as we play an interactive game, win prizes and even experience PLAY! During this session, you will learn more about early childhood education, the many career paths that are linked to this field of study, and how you can begin exploring now.
- The Mystery of the Missing Medication: Help the Addiction Counseling and Gerontology Programs figure out a "who done it?" mystery.
