Letter to campus from the president and provost regarding faculty compensation report
Submitted by Kirk Schulz and April Mason
Dear K-State Faculty and Staff:
We are pleased to make available to the campus community the report "Structuring Faculty Salaries Towards K-State 2025 and Beyond." Prepared by the Faculty Compensation Task Force, the report provided recommendations and observations concerning faculty salaries at Kansas State University. The report is comprehensive and quantitative; the task force did an excellent job in considering and evaluating a wide variety of information in developing their recommendations.
As with other task force reports, we want the campus community to have the opportunity to comment via the K-State 2025 website. The report is available at http://www.k-state.edu/2025/documents/Faculty-Compensation-Task-Force-Final.pdf
Your comments and suggestions are welcomed as we work together to ensure appropriate faculty compensation. Following an open comment period of two months, we expect in the latter part of the spring semester to issue a formal campus letter addressing the recommendations. The letter will provide our plans for what we can implement, along with appropriate timetables.
We are encouraged by our ability to increase all faculty and unclassified professional salaries by 3.5 percent over the past 12 months, and look forward to finding creative ways to continue to make progress. The hard work and dedication of the task force is much appreciated, as is the commitment to working with the administration in a spirit of shared governance.
Please note this report’s scope is limited to faculty salaries; a separate report will be issued relative to unclassified salaries. The Alternative Services Task Force continues to explore options for our classified employees.
Feel free to contact either of us if you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Kirk Schulz
President
