Weekly global religious, spiritual and nonreligious observance information

Submitted by David N. Yetter

The University Committee on Religious, Spirituality and Nonreligious Diversity presents the global observance information for Nov. 25 to Dec. 1.

Ascension of 'Abdu'l-Baha — Tuesday, Nov. 26. Tradition: Baha'i. Commemorates 'Abdu'l-Baha's death. Begins at sundown.

Nativity Fast — Friday, Nov. 15, through Tuesday, Dec. 24. Tradition: Orthodox Christian. Period of reflection and ascetic discipline in preparation for the celebration of the Feast of the Nativity, popularly called Christmas. Dates given are for Orthodox communities like those in Manhattan that use the new calendar. Communities using the old calendar keep the fast and celebrate Christmas 13 days later.

The University Committee on Religious, Spiritual and Nonreligious Diversity offers these weekly announcements in partial fulfillment of its mandate to ensure that K-Staters of all religious, spiritual and nonreligious backgrounds are seen as valued members of our community.
