Students gain hands-on experience growing poinsettias
Students in the K-State Greenhouse Operations Management class — HORT 570, taught by Kim Williams — gain hands-on experience growing poinsettias in the Throckmorton Plant Sciences Greenhouse complex each fall semester. This allows students to learn about light and temperature manipulation, and nutrient and greenhouse environment management.
The students are responsible for all production decisions and practices resulting in a variety of beautiful plants. After the plants are judged and grades are assigned, the plants are offered for sale by the Friends of the K-State Gardens through a hybrid sale including online and in-person sales.
For more information about the sale, visit the website.
