Forbes names K-State one of America's Best Midsize Employers

Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

For the second straight year, Forbes has recognized K-State on its list of America's Best Midsize Employers

The America's Best Employers ranking celebrates the top 498 midsize and 701 large companies in the U.S. that create great places for employees to work. Awards are given based on surveys from over 217,000 workers at companies with at least 1,000 employees across the country. Companies who had 1,000 to 5,000 employees were deemed midsize.

Out of the 498 midsize companies recognized, K-State ranked No. 40. The university is one of only 40 educational institutions on the list, and the only one in the state of Kansas.

The recognition reflects K-State’s commitment to become an employer of choice in Kansas and higher education, providing our employees with the opportunities and resources they need to succeed and thrive. Doing so is essential to helping the university achieve its vision to become the next-generation land-grant university. It also recognizes K-State’s people-centered culture, valuing well-being, satisfaction and engagement.

“This repeated recognition from Forbes validates what we already know – K-State is an exceptional place to work, learn and grow,” President Richard Linton said. “Our consistent ranking among America’s Best Midsize Employers reflects our unwavering commitment to creating an environment where our faculty and staff can thrive professionally while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. As we continue our journey to become the next-generation land-grant university, our people-first approach remains at the heart of everything we do.”

Survey respondents were asked to evaluate their employers based on several criteria, including salary, work environment, training programs and opportunities to advance. Participants also were asked if they would recommend their employer to others.
