New microcredential offered in Interdisciplinary Food, Energy, Water Systems
A new microcredential for credit at the graduate level that focuses on interdisciplinary adaptive systems analysis, particularly in engineering and natural systems, is available to K-State students beginning in the fall 2025 semester.
The Interdisciplinary Food, Energy, Water Systems microcredential will advance students' knowledge of complex adaptive systems analysis and help them obtain skills that are useful for interdisciplinary work.
The microcredential includes two courses: ME 710 — Intermediate Topics in Interdisciplinary Systems Analysis, one credit hour; and ME 711 — Interdisciplinary Seminar, zero credit hours. Both courses will be offered in fall 2025, and enrollment for the fall semester opens March 24. Upon completion of the courses, students will receive a Credly badge that they can add to their resume/CV.
This microcredential is being led by Melanie Derby, Dr. Charles E. Wilson chair in engineering and professor in the Alan Levin Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, and was designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to be successful in analyzing complex adaptive systems and prepare them to do interdisciplinary work.
