Provost Mason to speak about hunger, food security, nutrition
K-State First's final Beyond the Classroom event will be from 7-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Honors House, 1930 College Heights Road. Provost Mason will speak with students about global hunger in an interactive presentation, “Hunger, Food Security and Nutrition: What Can We Do?”
The presentation is the fifth and final presentation of the fall semester.
Mason’s research experience has focused on nutrients from plant-based food products that provide critical calories and nutrients to much of the world’s population. She has presented several lectures on food safety and security and will engage students living in the Honors House about critical issues related to hunger.
The Beyond the Classroom series seeks to provide students living in the university's residence halls with the opportunity to interact with university faculty and administrators. This allows students to engage with important topics and to think critically about the world around them.
This is the first semester for the Beyond the Classroom series, which brings faculty speakers and diverse topic material to different residence halls across campus. The program will continue with new presentations in the spring semester.
