World AIDS Day offers free HIV testing Thursday

Submitted by Julie Gibbs

On Dec. 1 of each year, we strive to raise awareness and remember those we have lost to AIDS and those fighting the disease.

World AIDS Day will be recognized Dec. 2-5 at K-State. With the help of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Lafene Health Center and SHAPE, or Sexual Health Awareness Peer Educators, students will be able to get tested for free.

This free HIV testing will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the K-State Student Union. Look for the SHAPE booth by the food court. We also will have information about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, and information about Lafene Health Center.

As we embark on another World AIDS Day, think about the 2013 national theme, "Share Responsibility: Strengthening Results for an AIDS-Free Generation."

Please visit SHAPE's Facebook page for more information on upcoming events.
