The KSU Foundation and end-of-year contributions
The Kansas State University Foundation will strive to cash report and generate tax receipts for all gifts received in December before the end of the calendar year.
For the first week in January 2014, the foundation's accounting will review all gifts that have a postmark of Dec. 31 or before, and will be noted as being received in calendar year 2013 for donor purposes. Please provide the foundation with any contributions as quickly as possible for our receipting to the donors.
Important: If you are having contributions sent directly to your department/college, please save the envelopes during the first couple of weeks in January and paperclip them to the checks so that foundation accounting can verify that the gift was postmarked by Dec. 31. Any checks received without envelopes will not receive a gift note — even if the check is dated in December. Please submit contributions with the KSUF-1 Contribution Transmittal Form which is available on the Foundation Information Network website.
We would appreciate that contributions be sent over on a regular basis — and not held for last-minute deposit.
Credit card gifts: Please note that credit card gifts do not work the same way. The gift must show up on the donor's credit card statement dated Dec. 31 or before. There is no way to back date these. For this reason, foundation accounting asks that all credit card gifts received be turned into the cashier’s office before noon, Tuesday, Dec. 31. Please remember to place these in secure envelopes for PCI compliance reasons.
Given the holidays, please submit all gifts as soon as possible to ensure they can be processed prior to Dec. 31. Please continue to submit any contributions that you receive throughout December as quickly as possible. The foundation is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as well as New Year's Day.
If you have questions regarding deposits, please do not hesitate to call Opal Jones, cashier at the KSU Foundation, 785-532-7529. Gift processing questions should be directed to Armik Allen, AVP- advancement services, 785-532-7574.
