Union Program Council to Boston for national conference
Ben Hopper, Union Program Council program advisor, will travel with students Kaitlyn Rogers and Alexis Turner, Union Program Council community co-chairs, to the National Association for Campus Activities 2014 national convention Feb. 15-19 in Boston.
Rogers, junior in human resource management, and Turner, junior in marketing, were selected to attend the conference by the Union Program Council executive committee. The convention provides a variety of opportunities. With approximately 90 music, comedy, variety acts and lecturers all being represented, schools can program all campus entertainment needs while saving money. More than 170 exhibitors will attend to offer entertainment, products and services while educational sessions and featured speakers will cover a wide range of topics including professional development, student affairs, programming and diversity.
Hopper serves on the regional conference planning committee as the showcase selection coordinator for the central region of the National Association for Campus Activities. In July, he will lead a group of students and staff responsible for casting the upcoming regional conference in October. Singer songwriters, comedians, bands, hypnotists, speakers, novelty acts and more will submit applications electronically. The committee then selects performers from those applications to showcase at the regional conference in October in Arlington, Texas.
The association advances campus activities through a business and learning partnership, creating opportunities for students and members and is a recognized leader in higher education for providing members with innovative practices and access to programs that support campus engagement. It has more than 950 college and university members and more than 550 associate members who represent artists, lecturers and performers.
