Academic and Career Information Center selects new peer career specialists
The Academic and Career Information Center recently selected new peer career specialists for the 2014-2015 year. Peer career specialists assist students in the career-planning process. They individually guide students through career assessments and help them to connect career goals with academic programs at K-State.
Career specialists also facilitate Academic/Career Decisions, EDCEP 120, which is a career-planning class. In addition, they are responsible for helping with the center's programs and activities including outreach presentations and assisting with the annual Majors, Minors and More Fair.
The new peer career specialists include:
David Zeiger, sophomore in secondary education, Overland Park; Amanda Stultz, sophomore in psychology, Andover; Paige Wiley, sophomore in communication studies, Overland Park; Elicia Loganbill, senior in industrial engineering, Berryton; Jordan Korb, sophomore in business administration, Valley Falls; Ellen Harley, sophomore in family studies and human services, Olathe; Zev Allen, freshman in open option, Soldier; Brooke Katterhenry, senior in kinesiology, Lenexa.
Olivia Miller, Olathe, will serve as a new graduate assistant for the center while completing her master's in college student development.
Eight peer career specialists from the 2013-2014 year are returning and include:
Abbie Bontrager, senior in human resource management, Wichita; Miranda Cook, sophomore in marketing and management, Paola; Aeriel Dodson, senior in family studies and human services, Overland Park; Makenzie Hrabik, sophomore in economics, Olathe; Nicole Kuhn, senior in communication studies, Manhattan; Katie Leise, graduate student in landscape architecture, Omaha, Nebraska; Garrett Smith, sophomore in family studies and human services, Olathe.
Career specialists fill an essential role in assisting K-State students.
