Wanklyn to join College of Engineering as assistant dean for recruitment
Craig Wanklyn has accepted the position of assistant dean for recruitment in the College of Engineering. He also will have an appointment as assistant professor in the department of architectural engineering and construction science. His duties, which will begin this summer, include overseeing recruitment of new students for the college, and serving as adviser for both the Engineering Ambassadors and Steel Ring student organizations.
Wanklyn has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in architectural engineering from Kansas State University, and has been an associate with M-E Engineers Inc. in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, since completing his graduate degree in 2006. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Colorado.
"We are very excited to have Craig join our leadership team," said Gary Clark, interim dean of the College of Engineering. "Recruitment is a critical component in reaching the goals of the University Engineering Initiative Act — to increase the number of graduates by 56 percent in Kansas' three engineering schools over a 10-year period — and his efforts will play a key role in this achievement for the college."
Wanklyn will replace Assistant Dean Tom Roberts who is retiring July 4 after 21 years of service in this position.
