Apply now for professional development grants for advisors
The University Advising Committee requests applications and will make awards for up to five $700 professional development grants to support participation in external professional and scholarly conferences on academic advising during the 2014-2015 fall semester. All K-State faculty and staff are eligible to apply. The committee intends to offer a parallel round of funding for spring semester professional development opportunities.
The committee thanks the National Academic Advising Association for waiving registration fees for grant recipients who attend the 38th annual national conference, Oct. 8-11, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
To apply, please send a brief — one-to-two paragraphs — email to the committee's selection committee — Carla Jones, Tanya Gonzalez, Brad Cunningham, and Leena Chakrabarti — c/o Steve Dandaneau, at dandaneau@k-state.edu, committee co-chair. Please identify and describe the specific professional development opportunity such as the conference or meeting information; the type of participation expected, such as presenting research?, first-time attendee?, etc.; and the rationale for your participation such as to learn about x and y, especially; to help strengthen a K-State effort in p or q, etc. Applicants are asked also to copy their immediate supervisor.
Funding for these grants is provided by the University Advising Committee, which is supported by student success funds earmarked for such purpose by the provost and senior vice president and the vice president for student life.
