Apply now for professional development grants for advisors
The University Advising Committee requests applications for up to five $700 professional development grants to support participation in external professional and scholarly conferences on academic advising during the 2014-2015 fall semester.
All K-State faculty and staff are eligible to apply. The committee intends to offer a parallel round of funding for spring semester professional development opportunities. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25.
The University Advising Committee thanks the National Academic Advising Association for waiving registration fees for grant recipients who attend the 38th annual national conference, Oct. 8-11, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
To apply, please send an email to the committee's selection committee — Carla Jones, Tanya Gonzalez, Brad Cunningham and Leena Chakrabarti — c/o Steve Dandaneau, at dandaneau@k-state.edu. In the email message, applicants should identify and briefly describe the professional development opportunity, the type of participation expected and the rationale for participation. Applicants also are asked to copy their immediate supervisor.
Funding for these grants is provided by the University Advising Committee, which is supported by student success funds earmarked for such purpose by the provost and senior vice president and the vice president for student life. Announcement of awards is expected by Monday, Sept. 1.
For more information or with any questions, please contact Dandaneau via email or by telephone at 785-532-1097.
